My travel to Bergen did not go exactly according to plan. The first silver lining was that I was once again reminded that my gut instinct is spot on. The second was that I got a Helsinki, Finland stamp on my passport.
Surprisingly the quickest route I could find to Bergen was London to Helsinki, Helsinki to Bergen. I had a scheduled 50-minute layover in Helsinki and had a bad feeling about that since I had booked the ticket. My fate was sealed when we left London an hour late. I opened my app when I landed in Helsinki and Finnair had already moved my ticket to the same 4:10pm flight to Bergen the following day. The airline put me up for the night and bought me dinner and breakfast. There was a sauna in my hotel. I was happy.

I arrived in Bergen the following day and am now settled into my home for the next three months. It feels like an incredible luxury! I closed on my house on November 30th, almost three months ago to the day. Since then my head has rested on a different pillow every five days, on average. In that time I have gone from being on edge that my clothes were always exploding out of my suitcase, to not even giving it a second thought. But now I can properly put my clothes away and come back to the same bed for 90 days. My left brain is thanking me.

So let me tell you why I am back in Norway. We will call this Internet accountability.
These are my goals between now and when my tourist visa expires on May 30th:
- Find a job in the small-group adventure tourism sector in Norway, or anywhere.
- Speak Norwegian! Go to the library for language meet-ups.
- Date. To meet people and cause why not?
- Find a local sauna and yoga studio. Frequent them regularly.
If I am coming off as fearless, don’t be deceived. This very much aligns with my goal of doing at least one thing every day that scares me. But as a good friend told me, I have everything to gain. And she is right!
